Private donors, nonprofit leaders, grantmakers, government officials, academic researchers, the media—these are some the people responsible for the 10.8 million visits to our site in 2007 alone. More importantly, these are the people who rely on GuideStar. They're able to access free information or purchase customized data 24 hours a day, seven days a week thanks to grantmaking organizations that have stepped up and become participants in the GuideStar membership program. GuideStar members are the reason we're able to make the information in our vast database easily accessible, provide free services to nonprofits, and develop new specialized products and services for power users. They are the organizations that recognize the value of supporting an organization that supports so many others. The Development of New Products and Services
Our business plan is designed to ultimately transform GuideStar into a self-sustaining entity, one that can be relied upon to always be there for the people who work to better the world. Sixty-four percent of our income currently comes from the sales of products and services. Membership support directly funds the research and development efforts necessary to continue improving our existing products to better meet our customers' needs and create new products to support the various activities performed within the sector, including the essential due diligence undertaken by the very grantmakers who participate in the membership program.
